Setting up VPN for Mac OS X
This solution for all users includes the following steps:
  1. Downloading the VPN client.
  2. Installing the VPN client.
  3. Connecting to the Case network via the VPN client.

Step #1
Download the VPN client from the VPN Software page at https://vpnsetup.case.edu/vpn3000.html.
  • If you must choose where to save the file, save it to the desktop.
Note: Please avoid using Internet Explorer to download the file.

Step #2
  1. When the download is complete, there will be an icon on your desktop called vpnclient-darwin-4.xxx...dmg.gz.

  2. Double-click vpnclient-darwin-4.xxx...dmg.gz.

    • It should automatically open, but if not select Stuffit Expander to open the file. Now there will be a new icon on the desktop that looks like a disk drive labeled CiscoVPNClient.

Step #3
  1. Double-click on the CiscoVPN icon and the installer will launch. It may ask for the administrator password for the computer.

  2. The default settings of the installation are adequate. Click Next and then click Next.

  3. Click Next and click Next again.

  4. Click Done.
Note: The new version for Macintosh includes the configuration file in a folder called Profiles. If the configuration file is not included, you will need to download it from https://vpnsetup.case.edu/vpn3000.html.

Click CaseVPN.pcf to download the configuration file.

Step #4
  1. To connect to VPN, simply open the client from the Applications folder. The program is called VPNClient.

  2. Make sure to select the CaseVPN entry and click Connect.

  3. You will need to enter your Case User ID and password to complete the connection.
