Setting up VPN for Mac OS X
|
This solution for all users includes the following steps:
- Downloading the VPN client.
- Installing the VPN client.
- Connecting to the Case network via the VPN client.

Step #1
|
|
Download the VPN client from the VPN Software page at https://vpnsetup.case.edu/vpn3000.html.
- If you must choose where to save the file, save it to the desktop.
Note: Please avoid using Internet Explorer to download the file.

Step #2
|
|
- When the download is complete, there will be an icon on your desktop called vpnclient-darwin-4.xxx...dmg.gz.

Double-click vpnclient-darwin-4.xxx...dmg.gz.
- It should automatically open, but if not select Stuffit Expander to open the file. Now there will be a new icon on the desktop that looks like a disk drive labeled CiscoVPNClient.

Step #3
|
|
- Double-click on the CiscoVPN icon and the installer will launch. It may ask for the administrator password for the computer.
- The default settings of the installation are adequate. Click Next and then click Next.
- Click Next and click Next again.
- Click Done.
Note: The new version for Macintosh includes the configuration file in a
folder called Profiles. If the configuration file is not included, you
will need to download it from https://vpnsetup.case.edu/vpn3000.html.
Click CaseVPN.pcf to download the configuration file.

Step #4
|
|
- To connect to VPN, simply open the client from the Applications folder. The program is called VPNClient.
- Make sure to select the CaseVPN entry and click Connect.
- You will need to enter your Case User ID and password to complete the connection.
